Kelsey Carpenter, AGACNP-BC – Orthopaedics
"We had a patient who was getting ready to be discharged home when he got a phone call that his house was on fire. The patient's house was destroyed by the fire. Kelsey was very concerned about the patient and his family, and this was evident by her show of emotions. Kelsey privately gave the patient and his family money so that they could purchase food or anything they needed during this difficult time. Kelsey did not share what she did with anyone except me and she did not inform me until she had already left for the day. Kelsey is a big patient advocate and continues to demonstrate that daily. Kelsey makes me Erlanger proud!"
"On Thursday, Kelsey had a patient admitted. On Friday, he learned that he'd lost his home to fire that morning. Judging from the pictures, it looked like a total loss. Kelsey was helping discharge the patient. She stopped to pray with him and his family and provided funds for him to get a hotel room for that night. The family is working with the Red Cross for temporary housing, but were unsure what they were going to do that night. Kelsey gave them a bit of solace in a very difficult and unsure time."
