Our team includes OB/GYN and urogynecology providers who work together to offer the latest minimally invasive and non-surgical therapies to help ensure the right course of treatment.

What Are Pelvic Floor Disorders?

The pelvic floor is a group of muscles, ligaments, and supporting tissues that form a sling, which holds the pelvic organs in place. The pelvic organs include the vagina, cervix, uterus, bladder, bowel, and rectum.

Pelvic floor disorders cause abnormal bowel and urinary function and pelvic pain. These disorders are common among women and can be linked to pregnancy, childbirth, and aging.

  • Urgency urinary incontinence
  • Fecal incontinence
  • Overactive bladder
  • Stress incontinence
  • Bladder leakage
  • Constipation
  • Pelvic organ prolapse
  • Sexual dysfunction
  • Congenital anomalies of the lower reproductive tract
  • Urethral diverticulum
  • Vesicovaginal and rectovaginal fistulas

What Is Urogynecology?

Urogynecology is a medical subspecialty of gynecology and urology focusing on pelvic health and reconstructive surgery for women. Erlanger Urogynecologists test, diagnose, and treat conditions impacting female pelvic organs as well as their supportive muscles and connective tissue.
