The CF Team
Physicians and Fellows
A medical doctor (MD) will coordinate your child's care at the Cystic Fibrosis Center. Doctors make the initial diagnosis and work with the entire family on a treatment plan. Our physicians will follow your child as he or she grows to make sure their condition is always under the best control.
Nurse Practitioners
A Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a registered nurse who has completed advanced nursing education (generally a master's degree or doctoral degree) and training in the diagnosis and management of common as well as a few complex medical conditions.
Clinic Nurses
Our clinic nurses provide all levels of nursing care including the administration of medicines. They also manage the day-to-day flow of patients in our clinic.
Dietitians
Understanding what to eat and how to make your diet work is an important and challenging task in managing CF. To help you master this skill, our dietitians will meet with you at diagnosis and follow up regularly as your child grows and develops.
Social Worker
Having a child with CF can drain your physical, financial, and emotional resources. Our clinic has the support of a social worker to help you manage these special challenges.
Respiratory Therapists
Respiratory therapists help people breathe who need help and, using highly technical equipment, breathe for those who cannot breathe on their own. Our respiratory therapists also help to diagnose and treat respiratory illness.
Child Life Specialists
Managing CF can be very stressful for a child of any age and their family. Our child life specialists can help children and families make necessary adjustments to new tasks and can help them talk about their fears and concerns.
